Introduction of acrylic board

2023-01-30
Acrylic Board has been widely used in various fields of civil products.
What is an acrylic board?
Acrylic is the general name for acrylic and methacrylic chemicals. Include monomers, plates, granules, resins and composite materials. Acrylic Sheet is polymerized from methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA), that is, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) sheet plexiglass, which is a specially processed plexiglass.
The research and development of acrylic has a history of more than 100 years, and it has the reputation of "plastic queen".
Performance characteristics of acrylic
1. The density is light, and the density of acrylic is only 1.19-1.20, which is about half of that of ordinary glass and 43% of that of metallic aluminum;
2. it has good flame resistance, will not spontaneously ignite and can be self-extinguished;
3. It has excellent electrical insulation and is a very suitable high-frequency insulating material for radio instrument industry;
4. It has good light transmittance, the light transmittance can reach more than 92%, which is more than 10% higher than that of ordinary glass, and it has a crystal-like texture and luster;
5. not afraid of moisture, water, mildew, bacteria, corrosion resistance;
6. impact resistance, 16 times that of ordinary glass, there is almost no danger of breaking the classification of acrylic.
Classification of acrylic
Acrylic board can be divided into casting board and extrusion board according to production technology, and transparent board and translucent board (including dyed board transparent board) according to light transmittance. According to the performance, there are impact-resistant board, ultraviolet-resistant board, color board (including black and white and color board), ordinary board and special board such as high impact board, flame retardant board, abrasive board, metal effect board, high wear-resistant board, light guide board and so on.
Forming technology of acrylic
The common molding processes of acrylic in industrial production are casting, injection molding, extrusion and thermoforming.
Casting molding is mainly used for the molding of acrylic plates, bars and other profiles, and the molded products need post-treatment before they can be used. The cast acrylic plate has strong rigidity, strength and excellent chemical resistance, and has unparalleled flexibility in color system and surface texture effect.
Extrusion molding is to make acrylic granules produced by suspension polymerization into acrylic plates, bars, pipes, sheets and so on by extrusion. Acrylic Products made by extrusion molding have low molecular weight, weak mechanical properties and low heat resistance and solvent resistance, but this process has high production efficiency and high product flexibility, which is beneficial to bending and thermoforming.
