Technical & installation

Project details
come first.

Practical coordination points for acrylic viewing windows, tunnels and pool applications.

Design inputs

Thickness and details are selected for each project. Example dimensions in the project collection apply to those examples.

Geometry

Provide the total component dimensions, visible opening, curvature, orientation and any joints or penetrations.

Water & service conditions

Confirm the water-surface elevation, water depth relative to the panel, intended use and relevant service conditions.

Supports & interfaces

Provide rebate sections, actual bearing surfaces, support stiffness, bedding, gaps and the installation interface.

Material & analysis

Review the cast PMMA material data, sustained loading, stress, deformation, connections and stability as applicable to the structure.

Structural support
and sealing

Support and waterproofing perform different jobs. The approved support detail transfers load; the sealing system controls leakage.

Load transfer

Confirm the physical bearing faces, support widths, bedding and permitted movement. Curved components, joints and frames need review as part of the assembly.

Material compatibility

Waterproofing, sealants and bedding materials need compatibility with PMMA and the substrate. Material choice, curing and surface preparation follow the approved project details and product instructions.

Rebate preparation
and waterproofing

Inspect the concrete or steel substrate before applying the specified waterproofing system.

Concrete surfaces

Check dimensions, level, soundness and cleanliness. Repair loose material, voids, exposed reinforcement and relevant cracks through the approved repair procedure.

Steel surfaces

Check level and alignment, remove burrs and prepare the steel surface for the selected system. Rust, oil and incompatible coatings need suitable treatment.

Installation & filling

A coordinated sequence links handling, positioning, joint work, finishing and the water test.

  1. Handling plan

Confirm component protection, transport frames, site access, lifting and temporary positioning arrangements.

  2. Interface inspection

Check the opening, bearing surfaces, rebate preparation and alignment against the agreed installation details.

  3. Assembly & finishing

Complete the specified joint, annealing, sealing and surface work under the applicable fabrication and installation procedures.

  4. Controlled water test

Follow the project’s approved filling and observation sequence, including checks of joints, leakage and component response.

The final design, material system and installation sequence depend on the project, its site conditions and the applicable requirements.
